Keeping Memories Alive
The above photo was made from a customer’s grandmothers costume pearls. She said she had the necklace just sitting in the back of a drawer, and that she was likely to never wear it. I asked her if she’d like to turn it into bookmarks that she could hang in a book and see every day. She said yes and brought me the necklace the next day. I asked her some questions to learn about her grandmother and discovered that she really liked working in the garden and planting things that drew butterflies. I went out and I found beautiful butterfly charms that matched the necklace. From there, I created five bookmarks for her, her mother, her aunt, and her two cousins. Now they all have a small memory of a woman they greatly loved that can be seen every day.
